Throughout her life, Colette has been strongly influenced by the beauty of Colorado. Her paintings are derived from travels around the world, from Colorado to the tall leaning rows of houses along the canals of Amsterdam, and castles in Switzerland.
Colette hopes that her paintings will take the viewer to another place and time, if even for only a moment.
Her medium preference is oil on canvas. 'It's the luxurious feel of oil paint and the richness of its color'. When explaining why she paints; " I paint because I must. There are so many wonderful things in this world that I can't live long enough to paint them all'.
In 1985 from the Colorado Art Institute, Colette earned a commercial art technician degree, and subsequently designed several logos.
She started a decorative painting business in July of 2001.
Voted first runner up for the Peoples Choice award in her first juried art festival was confirmation that she was moving in the right direction. Receiving an `Award of Excellence' for her painting 'Double Dutch' in the 2004 Artists of Colorado exhibit at the Denver Botanical Gardens in September, has further fueled her artists' journey.
